does recovery feel like?
- Recovery doesn’t hurt much
While your doctor will be prescribing you painkillers such as Tylenol or Vicodin, you will not be needing them. The recovery of rhinoplasty might be uncomfortable but not painful. You will have the bruised sensation. It is often due to swelling. If you feel a bit of pain, opt for cold compress, not painkillers. - It is uncomfortable
Through the recovery period, you will have the gauze in your nose. The internal packing is uncomfortable but necessary. You won’t be able to wear glasses, take shower or do any sort of exercises. The splint and bandages are removed in a week making it easier for you to breathe, eat and even sleep. - You have to breathe through your mouthAs you breathe through your mouth day and night, you will regularly need and want to drink water. We advise you to invest in humidifiers. Make sure while you rest, you have a lot of water in your arm’s reach.
- There would be bruising
As the nose, if resized and sometimes reshaped, there would be a lot of bruising. Your face will be puffy and the area around your eyes and nose will be swollen for a few days. Opt for a cold compress. The first two days of swelling will be tough, but you will feel immediate relief as the swelling goes down. It will take from 10 to 14 days to swelling to go down and bruising to reduce. - The complications are real
Like any other surgery, Rhinoplasty is a surgical procedure too and has risks and complications. While they may not happen to you, it is important that you listen to your doctor and take all the precautions they want you to take before surgery.
